ROSKILL SOUTH ATHLETIC CLUB

RS
10 reasons why Roskill South is special
  1. THREE COMPETITION TRACKS
    - 400m 8 lane athletics track with perimeter lighting. - 100m 12 lane sprint track - 80m 10 lane junior sprint track
  2. NATIONAL CHAMPION COACHES
Free coaching and mentoring from national level athletes including the current Men's Long Jump and 100m New Zealand Champion.
  3. AUCKLAND'S FRIENDLIEST CLUB
Everyone helps each other out at Roskill, no matter what your ability. Club-nights are just as social as they are competitive.
  4. HANDICAPPED AND SEEDED RACES
Every week our stats team calculate staggered start points to even out the playing field and make races as close as possible. The beginner athletes get a better chance to experience victory while the more advanced get pushed further by having someone to chase. We also assess each athlete's progress and may run seeded races to align similar development levels.
  5. FREE ENTRY TO AUCKLAND EVENTS
We believe every athlete should be given the opportunity to represent the club and test themselves against the best in the city. That's why Roskill pays all entry fees for Auckland Championship events.
  6. ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
We are committed to helping every athlete climb the ladder step by step on their journey to being the best they can be. Read about our athlete development program in the menu banner.
  7. UNDER 7s PROGRAM
For our under 7s we run the AthleticsNZ Get Set Go program as well as weekly races to introduce all concepts of athletics and athleticism. For the oldest age groups a season highlight is the gradual introduction into 'real athletics' with a rotation of traditional track and field events.
  8. DEPTH OF EXPERIENCE
Roskill South's committee is unparalelled with in the central-west cluster for its executive personal who hold vital roles on various regional and national athletics boards, including past Chairman of Athletics Auckland, Convener of Auckland Junior Athletics, Treasurer of Auckland Junior Athletics and National board members.
  9. COMPETITIVE CLUBNIGHTS
Unlike other clubs we believe clubnights are not only about learning technique but also about learning how to compete at your best. We measure every performance and have competitive races over all distances for all age groups. Above all, in athletics you can measure your own improvement by tracking your personal bests.
  10. TOP PERFORMER
Season after season both our individuals and teams continue to improve in medal totals at the highest levels of competitive events retaining the rich legacy of national representative sportsmen and sportswomen that began their journey learning to run at Roskill South Athletic Club.
